Life On A Small Island

On our way to Yellowstone National Park in Autumn 2012 my husband and I drove over Beartooth Pass. Coming down from the summit we found a place where we could pull over and get out of the car and really enjoy the scenery. . . Something which is difficult to do if you have your eyes glued to the road and a death grip on the steering wheel, while going around the hairpin turns and trying not to think about the drop off on the downhill side! (You can find videos on You Tube of this particular stretch of highway if you want to experience it from the safety of your computer desk.) There were a couple of small ponds to explore there. I just loved the way there was so much vegetation clinging to this little clump of dirt in one of these ponds. A little miniature jungle dressed in Autumn colors reflecting in this tranquil pool, unruffled by any breezes.
